Antoine Calbet

1860 – 1944

Antoine Calbet born in Engayrac (district Lot-et-Garonne) died in Paris in 1944. He was a student from Michel, van Alexandre Cabanel en from painter E.A Marsal.
Since 1880 Calbet had expositoins in the Salon des Artistes Francais. He won several salon medals in 1891, 1892, 1893 en a silver medal at the exposition from 1900. Calbet was officer in the Légion d’Honneur. He painted portrets and themepainting and was known for his illustrations for, amonst ithers, 'Bel Ami' from Maupassant.
